Help Support Francesca's MFA Thesis Show

Donation protected
Thank you, friends, family, and fellow artists for taking the time to read about this creative project. As part of the completion of my graduate studies at Hunter College, I am producing, choreographing, and directing a live dance performance that will be presented at Gibney Agnus Varis Performing Arts Center on March 31st at 7:30 pm. I am extremely honored to be working with each one of my generous collaborators, and we are thrilled to share what we have been developing this year. All of the work in the show is constructed through an industriously collaborative process with our talented creative team. The show will incorporate costumes by Taya Louisa, music composition by Macio Payomo, lighting by Burke Brown, photography by by Rebecca Oviatt and Effy Grey, and choreography in collaboration with six incredible movement artists.

We would be absolutely delighted to have your support for this production. Any amount will be gratefully received!

Creative Inquiry:
We are living in a world, where the mandates around physical distance have radically transformed how humans physically relate to one another, be it craving more contact, or uneasiness in close proximity. If life and art reciprocally imitate one another, I propose that the paradigm around dance viewing also shifts to encompass and integrate corporeal changes that reflect the world in which our audience subsists. The show Galvanizing Steel, is comprised of three pieces, and I will offer the audience an encounter that allows them the permission and necessary space to complete the experience using their own background, and their own universe of imagination. It is a unique and radical experience that responds to the new times we are living as a society. Physical distancing influences the present, and Galvanizing Steel aims to ask questions about the various boundaries that our world is creating at this time of the pandemic.
