Help Support Front Line Forest Defenders

For 20 years now forest defenders have been putting their bodies on the line to protect the Mattole’s Ancient forest from being logged.
After a summer of fierce resistance against industrial logging on Long Ridge, Humboldt Redwood Company is at it again. Forest defenders have mobilized to halt the Rainbow Ranch Timber Harvest Plan in the Upper North Forks of the Mattole, which threatens to further fragment some of the last, best habitat between the Redwoods and the Lost Coast.
Since this surprise attack on the forest began in late October, forest defenders have been in the woods, blocking roads, disrupting work, and documenting the damage done to this important, biodiverse region. Logging operations are ongoing, and expected to continue until the rainy season.
On November 4th, a tripod was erected on an access road to the THP, stopping log trucks for seven hours, while defenders on the ground entered worksites to halt tree falling and Mattole Valley residents rallied at the Fox Camp gate.
The campaign to Save the Mattole’s Ancient Forest holds far reaching global significance because these forests are considered the lungs of the planet. Studies show that the temperate rainforests of the Pacific Northwest sequester more carbon per acre than any other ecosystem on the planet. During this time of accelerating climate chaos, there is global responsibility to protect these forests and the rare wildness they contain.
Please help support front line forest defenders putting their bodies on the line to Save the Mattole’s Ancient Forest!
Your donations will help continue this legacy of resistance!
For the wild, with love!
