Help Support Hamza's Recovery Journey

Donation protected
We are reaching out to you guys today to humbly ask for your support for our beloved Hamza. Recently on New Year’s Eve, he suffered significant brain damage due to a failed suicide attempt and is currently in a minimally conscious state. Hamza had been suffering with mental health issues prior to this incident, he moved in with my father last year to help him get on the right track and be in a stable / comfortable environment . Hamza was beginning to show improvement with his mental health and was telling us how much happier he has been that he found his way back into Islam and bettering his lifestyle leading up to the incident. On 12/31/2023 he woke my dad up around 3:30 AM asking to go to a mental hospital saying he wants to be “locked away from everyone”. My father told him that he would take him in the next couple of hours at sunrise because it was 3:30 in the morning and told hamza to lay down next to him and sleep until it was time to go. They fell back asleep and at Fajr time (Morning prayer 5:30AM) Hamza woke my father up to pray, when hamza went to go wash up my dad faded back asleep while Hamza was washing in his bathroom under the impression that Hamza would wake him back up again. Unfortunately Hamza never woke my father up and walked out the house with a knife. My dad woke up at 7am unable to find Hamza checking everywhere he could in the area and going to places he was likely to be. Unable to find Hamza my dad came back home and dialed 911 to try to find him, While ringing emergency services he looked through his backyard window and saw Hamza crawling to the house covered in blood. He had stabbed himself in the neck numerous times (10 times) and fractured some bones in his spine due to how hard he was stabbing himself in his neck. The ambulance came as my dad covered the wounds trying not to lose him and upon arrival hamza had to be resuscitated inside the park and rushed to the hospital where the surgeons saved him. The doctors told us that it is a miracle that he survived but Hamza wouldn’t be able to do ANYTHING on his own, not even move his eyes, and that he would remain vegetative suggesting we cut our losses. Hamza originally scored a 3 / 15 on the Glasgow Coma scale ( A scale that assesses a patient's level of consciousness and is scored from 3 to 15, with 3 being the worst and 15 being the best) Three and a half months later Hamza scored a 13 showing drastic improvement! My family is dedicated to providing Hamza with the best possible care and treatment to aid in his recovery but the journey ahead is a challenging one, and we are in need of your help. The funds raised through this GoFundMe campaign will be used to cover essential expenses such as a handicap-accessible car, a range of therapies, and medical equipment for our home. These resources are vital in ensuring that Hamza receives the care and support he needs during this difficult time. We are deeply grateful for any contribution you can make towards Hamza's recovery. Your generosity and support mean the world to us, and every dollar and share of this link is truly appreciated. Together, we can make a difference in Hamza's life and help him on his path to recovery.
Thank you for being a part of Hamza's journey and for your kindness and compassion during this challenging time.

With heartfelt thanks
