Taking the Leap for Harry: A Skydive to Support Harry's Care

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Sarah, and I’m reaching out to share my husband Harry’s story and ask for your support during a challenging time in his life. This year Harry turns 40 and for the last 10 years he has been bravely battling multiple severe health conditions, including Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), gastroparesis, impacted colon, constant joint dislocations (especially his hips, knees, and shoulders), one of his feet has collapsed tissue (he can't feel it or use it), he also suffers from, epilepsy (tonic clonic seizures), a heart defect (long QT and Bradycardia - for which he has a heart monitor), PoTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia), blood pressure fluctuations and is fully immobile. As it stands, he can not even stand up unaided. His physical and mental health are deteriorating and it’s becoming very worrying.

He relies on a commode beside him, due to his immobility and incontinence and has a catheter for daily living. He is very much chair bound and relies on multiple hoists, a stairlift and other tools, as well as the strength of his carer, for when he feels he is able to come upstairs. He cant leave the house alone and therefore is sat in his chair all day and many nights. The toll on his physical health is immense, and mentally, it’s taking a serious toll on him. The emotional weight of these conditions is heavy, but we’re determined to keep him comfortable and continue seeking the necessary treatments to improve his quality of life.

Harry faces extreme challenges every day, so I have decided to raise funds for Harry’s ongoing care so I’m taking on a skydiving challenge!! Yes, you read that right—I’m about to leap out of an airplane, I’m terrified, to say I hate heights is an understatement, but Harry faces far scarier challenges every single day, and I want to do this for him. This skydiving jump will be thrilling, terrifying, and a huge personal challenge, but it’s nothing compared to the struggles Harry faces.

Every penny raised from this leap will go directly to support Harry with the following:
His continued expert care, medical treatments with gastrointestinal treatment, cardiology, rheumatology, orthopedic and pain management appointments. The mobility challenges means he desperately needs additional mobility aids; from new mobility scooters for inside and outside the home, making the house more supportive to his needs, as well as being able to leave the house with more support. Every penny will be accounted for as the amount of support he requires for so many aspects of his life is continuing to increase and the NHS will only do so much and many consultants have given up on him.

The physical and emotional toll Harry endures is unimaginable, and the costs of his support and care are mounting. This is where I need your help. By supporting my skydiving challenge, you’ll be making a real difference in Harry’s life, helping to cover all of the above as well as his mobility needs.

Please join me in this heart-pounding adventure, and let’s give Harry the care he deserves. Your donation will not only help ease his suffering but also show him that, even in the most terrifying moments, he is never alone.

Thank you so much for your support, your love, and your kindness!
Sarah xx

Details of the Jump!

Here’s where it gets even better (or worse, depending on your perspective): August 2025 (exact date TBC). I’ll be doing a tandem skydive with Sky Dive Netheravon—the Army Parachute Association. I will be jumping at 13,500ft. Harry has a huge love and respect for the British army, and this is the very place where he did a skydive almost 20 years ago!

Thank you so much for your support, love, and, if you have any tips for surviving a skydive (other than “don’t look down”), I’m all ears!
