Help Support Jessee Talbot-Melanson’s Medical Expenses
Donation protected
This fundraiser is being created by Justine Ridgeway and Sabrina Vardy for Jessee Talbot-Melanson and her parents who live in Greenwood, NS.
Jessee is an 18-year-old girl that recently suffered an unexpected seizure. After being rushed to the hospital and many tests later, Jessee was diagnosed with a large embryonic tumour the size of an orange. The tumour is wrapped around the section of her brain that controls her motor skills and if untreated will affect her abilities to walk and speak. Jessee must receive brain surgery within the next four months and afterwards will face months of recovery time.
Jessee will need to undergo many tests to determine how her tumour can be safely removed without damaging her motor skills. Numerous treatments, surgeries and hospital stays will follow, requiring many trips to Halifax and/or out of province, creating travel expenses for Jessee and her mom, Brooke Talbot-MacLean and step-dad Mike MacLean. Jessee and Brooke are unable to continue working at their jobs as Jessee has been instructed by her surgeon to rest and Brooke must be a full-time caregiver to Jessee, observing her closely for seizures. Neither Jessee or Brooke have sick benefits available to them through their employer so they both are pursuing applying for employment insurance benefits, but the process is slow and unfortunately has been complicated. Mike has been working overtime at his job at Michelin in Waterville to make up for lost wages, and his absence causes a strain on the family of six. Jessee’s numerous medications are not fully covered by health insurance and the family must pay a portion out of pocket.
Please donate to help the Jessee’s family lessen the financial burden of lost wages, and assist to cover monthly bills, and the costs of Jessee’s medications and future travel over the months to come.
