On Monday, 3/9/2020, my grandmother was complaining about her neck hurting her so she was taken to the doctor. The doctor discovered she had an incredibly high blood pressure, and treated it with muscle relaxers and blood pressure medicine. The next morning, she was found passed out on her bathroom floor and was unresponsive when paramedics arrived and took her to the emergency room. Joyce does not have any insurance so we were nervous the doctors would turn her away, but luckily they cared for her. She has four bulging discs in her neck and bone spurs. She is currently disabled (unable to move a lot, has to wear a boot on her left ankle from her fall, and requires a walker in order to get around) and cannot work to pay any of her medical bills or even just the regular bills that come with life. Doctors are requiring that she is not left alone and in the mean time, my aunt and mother are cleaning the houses she had lined up to keep a somewhat steady income for her (she cleans houses and house-sits for a living, and also has poor living conditions for herself but takes what she can get). She still has yet to be released from the hospital and is receiving epidurals in her neck to help with the pain and swelling. After she is released, she will continue to receive epidurals and physical therapy but if there’s no improvement to her condition, she will need surgery. If anyone would like to help raise money to help her with these incoming bills until she can get back on her feet and work, it would be greatly appreciated.
