Hi, my name Michele, and this cute little guy is my 3yr old grandson Kane. On April 7th he was hospitalized with heart failure. After a very stressful month and half we have a diagnosis of Frederich Ataxia. FA is a very rare genetic degenerative muscle disease that is terminal. The doctors at UCSF feel that there is nothing else they can do except offer comfort care. They are re-testing to verify the diagnosis, but Kane is showing all the symptoms of FA, so we are not hopeful for a change in the diagnosis. There are doctors and hospitals that have devoted years to the study of FA. These top specialists have already agreed to look at Kane's case in hopes of Kane qualifing for heart transplant. This will not cure Kane, but we are hoping that it will give Kane enough time to be able to let some of the new treatments that are slowing down the disease work.
So we are asking for help to get Kane across the country to see the best doctors for an FA patient. So please donate, even $10 will help make a difference. We are not ready to give up this fight!!!!
