Donate to Kayla Palazzolo's Heart Surgery Expenses

Kayla Palazzolo is a 17 year old kind, bright, caring, amazing, beautiful high school senior. She is the daughter of a cardiac nurse and Marine & Army veteran. She is a granddaughter, niece, cousin, and always a friend to all.

On December 11th, Kayla is set to receive life saving open heart surgery at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. She was born with bicuspid aortic valve, a condition that impacts the blood flow in her heart. Throughout her lifetime, Kayla has been closely monitored by a pediatric cardiologist. Recently, her conditioned has worsened and she becomes fatigued doing simple everyday activities like climbing a flight of stairs, or taking a walk around the block.

The doctors say that Kayla is in need of a new heart valve and repair of her aortic aneurysm. The doctor who will be performing her surgery at Colombia Presbyterian is an out of network provider and her family will be responsible for a total percentage of her surgery cost. This amount will take a great financial burden on the family.

Kayla’s mother, Jennifer works as a cardiac nurse at a local hospital. A few months ago, she had a baby and used her FMLA time. She is no longer eligible to take a paid leave from her job, so she will need to take a longterm unpaid leave of absence. Putting a financial strain on her family.

Kayla lives at home with her Mom Jennifer, her step dad Henry, and her baby sister Emma. Her step sister Olivia visits from Texas throughout the year. She is a cosmetology student at Nassau BOCES and spent the summer working at a local pool supply store. She is one of the kindest most generous people you will ever meet. She is beautiful inside and out.

All proceeds raised by this GoFundMe will go to Kayla’s medical expenses and daily living expenses acquired through this difficult time.
