Help support Kazue and Josey

Hi everyone,

It is with great regret that I share that my dad, Steve Sechrist passed on Sunday August 22nd of COVID. He lived a wonderful life filled with friends near and far. We know he will be dearly missed and hope some of you will share your stories of dad in the comments below.

Mom , John, and I have been receiving so many messages of love and support and are so grateful to everyone for checking in on us. The last week has been hectic and stressful, and so many people have been asking how they can help us. Now that we've had a moment to breathe, we have set up this go-fund-me in case anyone would like to help us with the burial expenses.

My dad communicated to my mom that he wanted to be buried and not cremated and we have chosen a beautiful final resting place for him at Park Hill Cemetery in Vancouver, WA under a large oak tree. The cost for his burial totals to over $10,000 and we would greatly appreciate any financial support you would be willing to give.

Others have asked if they can provide mom and I with meals. To hep facilitate this, a dear friend has set up a meal train for mom and I that can be accessed here: (https://mealtrain.com/07wy19). Mom and I are spending most days together and we will be happily eating any of these meals together as a family (Mom, John, and I).

If you would like to contribute in another way, we request that in lieu of flowers, you send donations to the foundation for Vancouver Public Schools in his name (https://foundationforvps.org). This foundation is the official nonprofit which supports the school district I both attended as a child and now teach in as an adult. They provide basic needs for students and so much more.
