Help support Kyle Newago on his road to recovery!

Hi, my name is Kelly DePerry and I am helping our family to raise funds to help, our boy, Kyle on his road to recovery.

On Monday, October 30, 2023, Kyle was experiencing low abdominal pain, after a visit to his doctor, he was told to monitor the situation and if it didn’t improve to go to the ER. He went to the ER Monday night and was diagnosed with Diverticulitis - an inflammation or infection in one or more small pouches in the digestive tract. He was given antibiotics and told to follow-up with his primary doctor on Wednesday, November 1st.

On Wednesday, he attended his follow-up appointment and was informed that because the pain seemed to have spread, he should again go to the ER. Family brought him to the ER where he was then admitted into the hospital.

The doctor and surgeon started him on antibiotics and fluids, through an IV, for the infection and fever and continued to monitor his progress. On Saturday, November 4, 2023 another CAT scan was preformed. Due to the lingering fever, infection, pain and results from the scan it was decided surgery was necessary to remove the infection from the diverticulitis.

Late that afternoon Kyle underwent surgery. Due to the severity of this infection, Kyle had to have about twelve inches of his intestine and part of his colon removed. He currently has a wound vac and will have to have a colostomy bag for approximately two months, at which time, he will then need another surgery to reattach his intestine back to the colon. He will then have another recovery period after the second surgery.

Kyle will not be able to return to his current job for a few months. He recently started this new job and, because of that, was in between health insurances, therefore he is not medically insured. While the family will be working with the hospital to see what financial assistance he may be eligible for, he will still have the burden of any other medical expenses and his monthly obligations.
