Help support Kym and his family

Our great friend Kym Gepp was diagnosed with stage four Bowel Cancer in November 2018. The doctors have said that his condition is incurable. Having said this, he is fighting hard and has been giving it all he can so he can be here for his beautiful family and all his great mates. Unfortunately, this disease is very unforgiving, and he is now receiving palliative treatment.
Kym is one of the most generous, caring and talented people we have the privilege of knowing and having in our lives. He has a beautiful wife, Kimmy, two awesome sons, Daniel and Jackson and a beautiful but crazy fish catching dog, Rosie.
They have all been very brave in dealing with this awful disease and are not people that would ask for help but are always the first to offer it to others. Kym would give someone the shirt off his back and has always been the first to lend a hand.
Kym has focused on a clean eating diet, walking Rosie, exercising as much as he can and trying to build up his strength. This is so he can continue to do as much as he can with his family and to allow him the strength to continue with his many projects on their family home.
At the end of last year Kym, who is a keen surfer has been unable to continue to surf because the cancer and the chemotherapy and radiation treatments are affecting his ability to move. This has been devastating as surfing was something he enjoyed and would give him a moment to forget about cancer and the impact on his and his family’s lives. He held onto the hope that the treatment he was receiving would allow him to return to surfing at some point. Unfortunately, he has been dealt a further blow recently. His doctors have informed him that due to the radiation treatment it is unsafe for him to return to surfing. This is not an easy thing to accept.
However, Kym is a trooper and has continued to throw himself into many projects. As a panel beater he has always fixed up old Holden’s and his latest was a shell of a ‘VL’ Holden Commodore. Kym and Daniel have restored this car together. The Commodore will be Daniel’s first car and will hold many special memories.
Kym and his youngest son, Jackson share a love for paddle boarding and fishing. They have spent numerous summers enjoying camping and paddle boarding at Victor Harbor.
Kym & Kim both love travelling whether it be living and working together in Canada, trips to the snow in the winter, summers at Victor Harbor or the Yorke Peninsular or a road trip along the Great Ocean road to visit family. Throughout their lives together they have loved and cherished their family time most and have enjoyed making many great memories with their boys.
While we do not know a lot about the treatment Kym has been receiving or could not possibly begin to understand what they have gone through or are going through as a family. We do understand the toll emotionally and financially of having to give up work and of all the travelling to and from hospital and the effects and costs of the treatments and the restrictions on their day to day living as a family has been hard. As friends we cannot do much for them, but we can try to ease the burden by providing some financial assistance. Even if this only pays the bills and puts food on the table it all counts. But we may even be able to help aide in make some lasting memories for Kym, Kimmy, Daniel and Jackson.
