Update: 12/25. Yesterday, doctors told Jani and Ronson their prepared course of treatment for Landon. He has been diagnosed with medulloblastoma. Doctors estimate Landon will need 4-6 weeks to recover from surgery. After he has healed, Landon will undergo radiation therapy for 6 weeks. After radiation is complete, he will begin 8 months of chemotherapy. A second surgery, which would take place before radiation, is being discussed by Landon's medical team. We hope to get more information from doctors regarding their decision by Monday, after Christmas.
We now know Landon's treatment will span over the course of a year. Your donations will help keep Landon's parents with him while he receives treatment, for as long as it takes for him to get better. He will be in intensive care for a while; during covid this means only one parent is allowed in at a time. Currently, your donations allow Jani and Ronson to alternate days so that Landon is never alone and each parent is given time to rest and recover. Thank you for your support. Landon is my 11-year old nephew. For the past 4 months, he has suffered from stomach issues that left him unable to keep food down which caused him to lose a total of 20 pounds, putting his current weight at 60 pounds. Over the last 2 weeks, his eyesight had become affected, giving him both double vision and sight in only 1 eye. Because he had lost so much weight and had become so lethargic, he had to be admitted into Kapiolani hospital on Dec. 19 so that a feeding tube could be administered. Early the next morning, a tumor the size of a walnut was found in the back of his brain. He had also suffered an aneurysm. Currently he is on life support but sedated and in stable condition.
As I write this, Landon is being prepped for surgery so that a biopsy can tell doctors more about how to treat him. Jani, his mom and my sister, is a devoted, hard-working, and single mom who is doing everything she can to be there and care for her son. Over the past four months she has had to miss a lot of work and will continue to do so, so that she is able to provide the support that Landon needs. Your support will help Jani remain at Landon's side during a time when a child needs his mother the most. Your support will also help Jani with medical costs insurance does not cover. I will be updating this page as more test results give rise to treatment plans.
Throughout this time, Ronson has been an amazingly supportive father to Landon. He has also been devoted to staying at Landon's side and was the first person to hear from the neurosurgeon that a tumor was found in his brain. Ronson was initially told Landon might not survive the night. Fortunately, we now know that wasn't the case, but it's hard to imagine hearing news like this about your child. It is nothing short of a blessing that Ronson is able to be with Landon at a time when he needs his father the most.
