Help support Liam Draxl

The Newmarket Community Tennis Club would like to help support Liam Draxl on his journey as he embarks on his pro tennis career.

Liam has been a member of our club since he was 3 years old. Since then we have seen him develop into a passionate, hardworking, and talented player.

Liam enjoyed a successful junior career, reaching #9 in the world when he was 17 years old. Liam competed in all 4 of the junior Grand Slams and reached the Junior Boys Doubles Final at Wimbledon in 2019. Although Liam was already playing pro tournaments and had an ATP ranking during this time, he decided to go to college to continue to develop his skills. Liam played 4 years at University of Kentucky. During his time there, Liam received countless awards and achievements including becoming the #1 ranked player in the NCAA D1 Mens Tennis in 2021.

At the conclusion of Liam’s senior year in 2023, he decided to turn pro and play tennis professionally full-time.

- #513 ATP Singles Ranking (current)

- 2 professional Singles titles

- 5 professional Doubles titles

- #9 in the world in Juniors

- #1 in the NCAA D1 Mens Tennis (a first for any Canadian, male or female)

Here are some of Liam’s top awards & recognition:

- Tennis Canada Junior Male Player of the Year 2019

- ITA National Player of the Year Award in 2021

- UK Male Athlete of the Year 2023 (chosen from all male student-athletes including basketball and football players)

- Three-time All American Athlete

- Recipient of the newly created ATP Challenger NCAA Accelerator program, which provides him with 8 Wild Cards into any ATP Challenger event until July 2024.

Professional tennis is a very cost-prohibitive venture, particularly in the initial stages. Prize money earned at the Futures and Challenger level tournaments (the entry into professional tennis) are erased quickly with Coaching fees, physio fees and travel expenses.

Liam’s first goal is to reach the top 100 ATP. This will allow him to compete in the top-tier ATP tournaments where prize money and sponsorships offer financial stability.

We are so proud of all his accomplishments and excited about his new venture.
