SEPT. 24:
With heavy hearts and tearful eyes, we bid farewell to our beloved Lucy, a cherished member of our family, who peacefully crossed the rainbow bridge in the comfort of our home on Wed. July 19. On this day, as we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the joy and love she brought into our lives.
Lucy, a precious pug, was more than just a pet; she was a loyal companion and a true friend. Her unwavering affection and playful spirit touched the lives of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Whether it was her little tail wagging excitedly or her soft, loving eyes gazing up at us, she had a way of melting hearts and bringing smiles to our faces.
In her final moments, Lucy found solace in the embrace of her devoted human family. As she peacefully sat in my lap, surrounded by love, she knew she was safe and cherished. Travis held her tiny paw, providing comfort and reassurance as she embarked on her journey to the next realm.
Lucy's life was filled with countless beautiful memories. From carriage rides around the neighborhood to lazy days spent cuddled up on the couch, she lived each moment to the fullest. She was a little bundle of joy, spreading happiness wherever she went, and her presence enriched our lives beyond measure.
As we grieve this profound loss, we take solace in knowing that Lucy is no longer in pain, and her spirit lives on in our hearts forever. She leaves behind a legacy of love and affection that will continue to warm our souls in the days to come.
To our dear Lucy, you were so much more than just a pet; you were family. Thank you for the laughter, the joy, and the unconditional love you brought into our lives. Though you may have left this world, your memory will forever linger in our hearts.
Rest in peace, sweet Lucy. Run free over the rainbow bridge, knowing that you are forever loved and cherished.
JULY 13: Our sweet Lucy Pug was diagnosed with severe pulmonary hypertension today at the wonderful CASE Emergency Animal Hospital. Lucy is being hospitalized for the next 24 hours (possibly 48) for diagnostics and treatment. As many of you know, mine and Lucy's history and love story is a beautiful one. Lucy has been a true gift from God and a gift of sobriety. When Lucy came to live with us in Colorado, we nicknamed our home the Retirement Home for Old Pugs and vowed to give Lucy the very best rest of her life. For 1.5 years, we have held our little sweetheart's hand and spoiled her with endless love and attention. We have been adamant about her health and vet care. Sadly, Lucy was misdiagnosed with having seizures and a brain tumor, when in truth, the episodes she was experiencing were fainting spells due to pulmonary hypertension, a debilitating illness that affects her heart and lungs. We are fortunate to find this truth out now. We are reaching out to you with heavy hearts and a plea for support for our beloved Lucy. We are humbly asking for your generosity and compassion to help us give her a fighting chance. Lucy is doing great and is currently stable in an oxygen cage. When I last went to visit, she stood up and gave me high fives for treats! Good girl Lucy! If there's one thing I know about this girl it's that she is a fighter! Lucy's resilience and unwavering spirit inspire us every day. With your help, we can give her the opportunity to live a fulfilling life, free from pain and suffering.
The cost of Lucy's medical treatments and ongoing care has placed a financial burden on us. The specialized treatments required for her condition are beyond what we can afford alone. This is where your kindness can make a world of difference.
We have created this GoFundMe campaign to ask for your help in supporting Lucy's veterinary bills. No donation is too small, and every contribution brings us closer to our goal. If you are unable to donate, we kindly request that you share our campaign on social media platforms or with anyone who may be willing to assist. Every dollar raised will go toward ensuring Lucy receives the best possible care and a chance at a longer, healthier life.
On behalf of Lucy and our entire family, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for any support you can provide. Your generosity will make a remarkable difference in Lucy's journey toward recovery, and we are forever grateful for your compassion during this challenging time.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being a ray of hope in Lucy's life.
With love and gratitude, Corey and Travis Beeler
UPDATE JULY 15: We are so grateful for your amazing generousity and kindness. Lucy was in the ER vet for 48 hours and now our Lucy girl is home in an O2 cage!! We will attempt to ween her off oxygen over the next 7-14 days. Lucy is down to needing 40% O2 therapy, down 10% from the past 48 hours which is progress! Our goal is to get her to 28% O2 and then she can live outside the cage. When out of the cage she has trouble breathing right now. However, she is acting like her normal self - Doing tricks for treats, napping, drinking water, pawing and wants out of the cage and is hungry! Which is amazing! Lucy is comfortable on the couch in her O2 cage and is hooked up to a O2 condenser. She is so happy to be home and so are we! Lucy is not even close to the gates of Rainbow Bridge. God's got us and gods got a plan. If it doesn't work out, we have a beautiful at home euthanasia team that will come. For now, we will be using donations towards the purchase of an pet oxygen cage and rental of an oxygen condenser. We cannot thank you enough for your support!
