Help support Michelle fighting the big C

Donation protected
Michelle has been in my life for the last 10 years. She has worked at the Dinghy Dock that entire time, except for the time I fired her. We didn't start off all that great. We've been though a lot. Irma, Covid, family stuff, endings, new beginnings,.. Now after all this time, she is like a big sister to me. Albeit one that drives me nuts sometimes. Many people reading this will have seen us get into it a time or two. I know she always had my best interest at heart and it always passed. She had been puttin in her time and planning for a well deserved retirement in a few years. Plans and investments were made. She had herself set up.

As many of you know, medical care on the island is not the best. Several years ago, Michelle noticed a small mass. It was biopsied and determined not an issue. The docs even said removal wasn't urgent. It was biopsied of the last few years and everytime she was told all good. All until about 2 months ago. Michelle had been having back pain and after xrays was told she had broken a vertebrae. After a month of trying to manage the pain and no progress, she paid for her own CAT scans. These showed signs of cancer. It was decided that the US was the best option for treatment. After getting to Henry Ford in Detroit and weeks of poking and prodding, cancer was confirmed. Specifically Distant Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, the most common breast cancer. Since she has had several procedures to stabilize her now 2 broken vertebrae and manage the pain. This has put her back in the hospital several times. She is on oral chemo with post other actions planned.

Michelle is staying with her daughter Marissa and her two grandkids. This support is great for her to have. Michelle's financial plans were for 4 years from now, not now. Her available cash is being burned fast. Her medical insurance in the US is basic and covers only the bigs stuff. She is paying out of pocket for her pain management alone is $1200 a month currently. She has and is actively chasing various government help, but that's only going to go so far. This is even made worse by her no being able to work. This money would help them to get a 3 bedroom house so that Michelle can have space to herself. She also needs help with monthly living expenses and medical care.

For those that were unaware and those that knew about the situation, your help would be greatly appreciated. Michelle is good people. Please dig deep and help with what you can.
