Help support Mr. Womack's transition!

Donation protected
The Parole Advocacy Project at Columbia Law School has been working with Mr. Womack to secure his release from prison since January 2023. He has been incarcerated for almost 24 years. As he nears his release, he is eager to reconnect with the many important people in his life, including his siblings, cousins, nieces, and nephews. However, reentering society is incredibly difficult after any period of incarceration, especially 24 years. To aid his transition, Mr. Womack needs our help!

Born and raised in Brooklyn, Mr. Womack is a New Yorker through and through. His mother, a single mother, raised him and his siblings with a strong emphasis on family. Mr. Womack has always been a committed and loving member of his family and has done whatever it takes to support those around him. His uncle, Knowledge King, specifically recalls Mr. Womack giving the little money he got from working as a child to his sister so she could buy a toy. He also recalls Mr. Womack joining him on contracting jobs and assisting him with his work when he was going through a hard time. This made a lasting impression on Mr. King as Mr. Womack, who had very little money at the time, never asked Mr. King for any of the proceeds of his work. Other members of Mr. Womack’s family describe him as someone who has spent the last 24 years devoting his time to learning and bettering himself.

As Mr. Womack transitions to this new phase in his life, he’s excited to be around his family and begin work at his cousin’s ice cream store. He hopes the food service work he did while incarcerated will help him to be successful with this family business, and further hopes his vocational background will translate to a potential career in carpentry alongside his uncle Knowledge King. However, as he begins his transition back to society, he has a new set of needs that he doesn’t currently have the money to take care of.

To help his transition go smoothly and support these goals, we are asking for donations to support getting him a cell phone, clothes, transportation, and the other necessities that will ensure Mr. Womack’s successful transition back into society.

Please consider supporting Mr. Womack as he returns home!
