Help support my Borneo Expedition-Winter Canoe Challenge!

Donation protected
My name is Daisy Patterson, I'm in year 10 at Honley High School. Next July, just before I turn 15, I’ll be embarking on an incredible adventure to Borneo with a group of 25 other students from Honley High School.

As part of the preparations for this expedition, I’m taking on a final challenge to raise funds and support for the trip, and I need your help!

I’m self-funding this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and this challenge will be crucial in getting me to Borneo.

Please consider sponsoring me as I take on the tough task of canoeing through the Standedge Tunnel this winter.

Your donation will make all the difference.

The Challenge: Canoeing Through Standedge Tunnel in Winter

On Sunday 2nd February 2025, I’ll be one of 10 brave students navigating the cold, murky waters of the Standedge Tunnel. Located in the heart of the Pennines, Standedge Tunnel is now the longest and deepest, highest working canal tunnels in the WORLD, stretching over 5000 meters long.

This winter, we’ll be paddling through its dark, waterlogged interior, contending with freezing temperatures, curtains of cold water and pressure waves from passing trains as well as and the inherent danger of a 200-year-old structure. The conditions will be tough, with cold waters and the added challenge of the tunnel’s low ceilings and narrow passageways. It’s an ambitious and demanding test of endurance and teamwork – but it’s also a vital step in reaching our goal for the Borneo expedition.

Why Your Support Matters;

I’m taking on this final challenge to help fund my participation in the Borneo expedition, a unique educational experience for all involved. This self-funded trip will allow us to immerse ourselves in Borneo’s incredible ecosystems, engage with local communities, and take part in environmental conservation efforts.

But before we can get there, we need to raise the final instalment of necessary funds to cover travel, equipment, and preparation costs.

This canoeing challenge is my way of giving back, pushing myself to my limits, and doing something physically demanding to raise the money needed.

Every donation, big or small, will help make this dream a reality. By sponsoring me, you’re not just helping fund my expedition – you’re supporting education, conservation, and the personal growth of a group of young students. It’s a chance for us to explore the world, build new skills, and contribute to important global causes.
