Help Support Nick Agar's Fight Against Cancer

My name is Arthur Aveling. I have just learned that my dear friend Nick Agar has been diagnosed with esophageal cancer and two malignant tumors. This news is devastating but rather than sit back and feel sympathy for him, I’ve decided to do something positive for Nick by setting up a GoFundMe fundraising campaign to help him with the many expenses involved with his treatment.

Thousands of you over the past few years have had the experience of learning from this Master Craftsman. He has been an incredible ambassador for woodturning and sculpting, tirelessly promoting the art around the world, however, while he’s undergoing treatment, Nick will be unable to work. Treatment for this type of cancer is lengthy and very expensive. These funds will significantly help him in paying for his medical and living expenses.

Nick is a world-renowned wood turning artist and sculptor who has made countless friends around the world. Not only is he one of the best at what he does, he has an enormously huge heart. His friends, associates, and students have all experienced his generosity, humor, and kindness. Friends of Nick are friends for a lifetime. Pamela and I are enormously lucky to call him a true friend. Pamela refers to him as “My Son From Another Mother” and feels tremendous pain and sorrow for what he has – and what he is about to experience.

Nick has a long journey ahead of him, but he is maintaining an upbeat, positive attitude. He is aggressively pursuing medical treatment in either the UK or the United States. At this point he does not know where it will be, however, we will find out soon.

If it is determined his treatment will be in the United States, Brad Davis and his wife Shirley will care for Nick in Iowa should the Mayo Clinic accept him for treatment. They are both close friends and did not hesitate to help him when they found out the bad news. Shirley is a nurse as well.

Regardless of the place, we know Nick is facing huge medical expenses for the potential operation, hospital stays, chemotherapy and radiation treatments. He also has a wonderful teaching studio with many associated expenses which he wants to keep open.

The end result is getting Nick well again so he can continue to teach us, inspire us, and be our healthy friend again. Our initial goal is to raise $100,000 for his treatment. 100% of all the amounts Nick receives will help with his fight.
