Help Us Support the Kaneshiro Ohana
We, the family and friends of Noah Kaneshiro, are starting this GoFundMe in hopes of raising funds to assist the Kaneshiro Ohana with medical expenses and day-to-day life expenses during this critical time of need.
On Saturday, 06/22/2024, what seemed like a normal day quickly turned into a nightmare. The Kaneshiro Ohana set out for a day of riding at Kahuku Motocross track, a favorite family activity. Towards the end of their day, Noah insisted on doing one last lap around the track before leaving. With his mom, Napua, following closely, nothing could prepare them for what happened next. Noah went over the triple step up, and Napua witnessed every parent's nightmare: Noah's lifeless body laying at the bottom of the jump about 15 feet away from his bike. Noah was immediately rushed by ambulance to Queens Medical Center for treatment, and that's where their long journey began.
Noah's Injuries and Treatment
Noah suffered and continues to suffer from a severe traumatic brain injury with swelling and subdural hematomas (bleeding in the brain), renal rupture with the loss of one kidney, spleen rupture, a broken rib, and a broken hip. Noah has already endured surgery to stop the internal bleeding from his ruptured spleen and kidney, and on 06/26, he was moved from the ICU, giving the family some hope. The ohana was informed that once he was stable enough, he would be transferred to Kapiolani Medical Center, where the next phase of his recovery would begin. However, on 06/30, he was transferred back to the ICU, and the family received devastating news. Doctors now say his brain injury is more serious than initially predicted. Despite the minimal amount of bleeding in the brain, Noah should have been improving, not getting worse. He was diagnosed with a DAI brain injury, and doctors want to send him to the mainland for specialized treatments ASAP. These treatments are not covered by insurance, with an estimated cost of about $30,000 a month and no definite length of treatment time given. These treatments are necessary for Noah to have the best chance for a successful recovery. Additionally, Noah will need a medical escort just in case he will need to be sedated or need medical assistance during the long plane ride to the mainland.
How You Can Help
Noah, before this accident was an energetic 14-year-old. He loves spending time with his big brother Jordan and his sisters Sophia and Nai’a and 2 doggies Pepper and Polu. He loves hanging out with his cousin Nixon, Cole, Daniel and Elijah. Loves going to Ice palace, surfing tracks with mom, off-roading, hiking, fishing on the boat, camping and video games. The one thing that Noah loves doing the most is dirt bike riding. He didn’t want to join a sport just so he could keep his weekends open so he could ride. Although it’s a long road to recovery let’s help get Noah back to that energetic 14-year-old boy. Within a week, Noah and the Kaneshiro Ohana's life has been turned upside down. With both parents out of work to be with Noah and the sudden need for extensive treatment on the mainland, we are humbly asking for any monetary donations to help this ohana with expenses so Noah may get the treatment he so desperately needs. Every little bit counts, and if you are unable to give, PLEASE pray for Noah and the Kaneshiro Ohana. Our God is a God of miracles, and we are praying for one for our sweet Noah. All proceeds will go directly to Noah's parents, Eric and Napua Kaneshiro.
We love you, Kaneshiro Ohana! You got this, Noah!
