On Friday August 18th 2017, Officers M.P. Fox and K.C. Jarrell were injured in the line of duty during their brave and heroic response to an active shooter situation. Officer Jarrell was shot in the lower abdomen under his vest. Officer M.P. Fox was shot in both hands when gunfire struck his firearm. Officer Fox and Jarrell were able to fight through their injuries and engage the suspect subduing him.
Officer Jarrell is a highly respected member of the local police department. He is now attempting to recover from injuries while juggling the responsibilities of having a new born and toddler at home. This fund has been established to assist Officer Jarrell with medical expenses and any additional unforeseen expenses that arise from his extraordinary response protecting the Jacksonville community from violence.
Please understand that this fund is currently being managed by fellow officer and close friend Ashley Sowers , who is acting as the beneficiary until the family can get through this initial emotional period and assume beneficiary status. Detective Sowers will not benefit financially from this effort in anyway as all proceeds will be turned over to the Jarrell family. As soon as the family can assess their needs to the fullest potential and estimate the recovery costs, this account will be turned over to them and the funding estimate will be updated.
It should be noted there is a seperate account for Officer Fox's expenses as well.
Should you decide to provide a donation directly to the FOP you may do so by sending a check or money order to:
Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 5-30
Ofc. Kevin Jarrell Recovery Fund
5530 Beach Blvd.
Jacksonville, FL 32207
Thank you in advance for your support of our wounded Officer and Lodge member. We are very proud of him and eager to get him back to his family and to protecting the City of Jacksonville as soon as possible.
