Help Support Olde Sawmill Mini Golf in Oxford

Al Turcott and Linda Turcott, longtime Oxford residents, knew something in their town was missing. So, In 1994 they opened up their retirement passion project - The Olde Sawmill Miniature Golf Course and Grill. Oxford’s very first Miniature Golf Course with a snack bar style grill serving burgers, Hummel’s foot-long hot dogs, seafood, ice cream, and more. Al, along with a few family and friends, built the entirety of the golf course from scratch. This includes: 19 holes, an imitation sawmill with a functioning water wheel, a gazebo, a pond with a fountain, and a bridge that crosses Little River, as well the restaurant and patio. And if that wasn’t enough, they brought in an authentic Boston & Maine 20th century red caboose to sit on train tracks beside the restaurant. The Olde Sawmill was operated for 30 years by Al and Linda, their 3 daughters; Allison, Doreen, and Joslynn, his 3 grandchildren, and a few close family friends who became family. At nearly 80 years old, Al continues to do the vast majority of all landscaping, repairs, maintenance, and upkeep of the entire operation. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed in 2020.
On August 18, 2024, like many others, The Olde Sawmill was impacted by devastating, sudden and unexpected floods in the southwestern Connecticut region. The flooding managed to uproot and dislodge the “golf shack” and send it down Little River at rapid speeds. Inside contained all things necessary and vital to maintaining day-to-day operation of the business, including electricity. The newly renovated and promising restaurant building has been destroyed and can not be salvaged. Half of the miniature golf holes have been effected. The clean-up overall will be extensive and complicated.
As a humble seasonal business, the amount of damage from this storm could result in the mini golf’s doors closing forever. After already losing the restaurant portion of the business to the effects of Covid-19 and soaring operating costs, a total loss of this local, family owned and operated business would be devastating to the Turcott family and to the Oxford community.
Please help the Turcott family navigate the months worth of clean-up necessary to move forward.
Fundraiser organized by Al Turcott’s daughter, Allison and his granddaughter, Brittany. Funds will be transferred to him directly from his daughter and granddaughter.
