Help support our dear Nuri

This past August, after undergoing a work-up for abdominal pain, Nuri underwent an endoscopy which showed a bleeding mass in her stomach. After several more tests, she was diagnosed with stage 4 gastric cancer. While this news has been hard on Nuri, her family, and friends, Nuri has remained strong, taking things day by day and focusing on her family and loved ones.

Because of the extent of her illness, Nuri cannot have surgery and thus has recently started chemotherapy and immunotherapy for an indefinite amount of time. While Nuri undergoes treatment, she is also continuing her radiology residency at UC-Irvine so that she could financially support herself and keep her insurance benefits. She has fantastic peer and institutional support but working has become more and more challenging. After the start of a new treatment cycle, Nuri finds herself too tired to work and is oftentimes nauseous from the medicine. As Nuri continues to receive treatment, she will benefit from additional support regarding meals, medical bills and other expenses when she does decide to take an extended leave.

Nuri is a kind, generous friend and colleague. In medical school, she was always a breath of fresh air and would always help out those who needed it (and cheer them up!). She has dedicated her life to medicine and helping others and still continues to do so while coping with this new diagnosis. I am creating this GoFundMe to help our dear Nuri so that we can all reciprocate her generosity.
