Sigma Nu of Boulder, Colorado has an active brother whose Mom is currently battling Parkinson's disease. She has gone through two brain surgeries and had a receptor placed in her brain to help her motor skills function properly. As a mother, she has stayed resilient and did not let the extreme stress of these operations affect their family. Sigma Nu is committed to helping their family and individuals/families going through similar struggles. As a brotherhood, we are raising money to benefit Parkinson's Foundation Inc.; any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for contributing to this cause which means so much to us.

What is Parkinson’s?

Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a degeneration of the body’s nervous system that largely affects the brain's dopamine-producing neurons in a specific area of the brain. Symptoms of the disease generally develop slowly over the years, but patients may suffer from tremors, slowness of movement, limb stiffness, along with posture instability. Along with these motor-function symptoms, other symptoms include mental struggles and other bodily functions. As the causes of PD are largely unknown, scientists believe the cause is stimulated by genetic and environmental factors.
