Our good friend Pat Nelligan was recently dealt with a heavy blow. At the very young age of 47 he has been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Stage 4......Some may crumble with those words alone. Not Pat! Pat is strong, resilient and determined to fight this disease with every ounce of his being. He is no stranger to adversity and has been kicked around a time or two on this road called life. In 2011 when he was only 40 years old he suffered a massive heart attack; the widow maker. The doctors gave him just a 5% chance of survival thru the night and yet here he is, 7 years later, living to fight another day and yet another deadly disease. As the father of two high school age children; Owen and Avery and the husband of 20 years to his wife Stephanie he has everything in the world to fight for. He has strong support system and a tight knit family that will help to carry him thru when the days get tough.
The current plan of action is chemotherapy every other week at the University of Penn for the next six months. His loving wife Steph will be by his side as a constant companion and caretaker. Although Steph will continue to work thru his treatment it is inevitable that there will be missed work due to scheduling. Pat himself wants nothing more than to return to work. He has worked as a member of the Philadelphia's Plumbers Union Local 690 for over 20 years and plans to return as soon as he is able. Unfortunately, at this time he is unable to work and as you can imagine medical bills and every day expenses will start to add up rather quickly. Any help you could give this amazing family during this very difficult battle would be greatly appreciated. They are so very grateful for all the love, support, thoughts and prayers they have received thus far.
