Help Support PiYoDa Flow!

In honor of PiYoDa Flow’s starting their third year, we are fundraising to propel the studio space through the next few months. From Fall of 2023 through Spring of 2024, we need your help to keep PiYoDa open, thriving and contributing to the local community. Your investment in PiYoDa Flow allows us to continue providing scholarships to students in the youth program, keep our rental fees low for local artists and aid us in keeping class rates free/affordable, reducing financial barriers for those who love dance, community, culture, and wellness.

PiYoda Flow has been a staple in the West Adams community for the past 2 years. The space provides affordable classes and rentals for BIPOC artists. So far we have been doing that as a collective, and all artists involved have donated their time for all the beautiful happenings. With the current economic conditions, we find it necessary to reach out to our community for help at this time. PiYoDa Flow is in need of your support!

In addition to our continued operations, it is with a heavy heart we share this recent event that affected the space. On October 8th at 2.34 am, PiYoDa Flow was vandalized. While the investigation is under review, we are also raising money to repair the damages and the loss of work space for several days. A week shy of its second anniversary, 3 large windows and the glass door were broken in the middle of the night. That evening, a mother was celebrating her 50th birthday and ended the event shortly after 1am. So far, private events like these were helping with coming up with all costs of the space to support youth and adult programming. We are hoping to raise $7000. $4000 for the damages and $3000 to help cover some costs until March.

Piyoda Flow is mainly run by Vanessa. She has been working in the field for over 25 years at various institutions and giving back to her community these past 2 years. Currently, the physical, spiritual, and emotional effect of the current situation is greater than what she has been able to offer as her son also was recently robbed by an armed grown man. Vanessa is a compassionate, dedicated, fervent mother artist yogi entrepreneur. She has worked tirelessly in the past 2 years to create a safe space for dance culture, community, and wellness in her neighborhood of West Adams. As a new business owner (and more recently non profit Culture Flow Projects’ founder), she has worked 7 days a week on a volunteer basis, about 30 hrs/week of admin and teaching over 900 classes voluntarily to cover the lease and the various costs coming with the space.

In short, your donations will cover:

Help with lease until March: $3000

Allows youth who are on scholarship to continue taking classes

Allows artists to rent space for an affordable fee compared to other studios around

Allows our class rates to remain the same

Continuing all of our programming

Windows and door repair: $2000

Cleaning glass for three days: $1000

Items that we destroyed (PiYoDa Sign, various decals on all windows, curtains, commercial fan, carpet…) $1000

Loss of 3 days of work for various artists, healing: Value TBD by U <3!
