Help Support Ruth In Her Fight

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Diana Tucker. We have created a Gofundme account for my beautiful sister, Ruth Fiscus, who has been recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
Ruth lives here in Warren. She is a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, daughter, sister & a good friend to many. Her family means the world to her & she has always been the heart & soul of our close knit family. Here is our story so you have a better understanding why we have created this for her…. For a long time my sister hadn’t felt well. Stomach pain, back pain, headaches, loss of appetite and recent weight loss were just a few of the symptoms she was experiencing and blamed everything on the medications she was on at the time. A little over a month ago she had her daughter drive her to the emergency room because she was sick and not feeling right. She had tests done and blood work…shortly after her scan they had told her they had found a mass on her pancreas. The most devastating news ever. She was transported to Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh where they confirmed that it was indeed a mass and also told us she had a blockage in her bile duct that needed immediate attention. The next day they put 2 stents in and did a biopsy of the mass which confirmed a few days later of stage 2 pancreatic cancer. After being at Shadyside for about a week they let her come home…awaiting for another appt to go back down and meet with the team of doctors to discuss with us her treatment plan and what was to happen next. They explained that they couldn’t do surgery until the mass was smaller in size because it is sitting too close to her main artery and the plan was to start chemo right away. Her chemo treatments started on 10/17 in Erie, as soon as her chemo port was placed. She has to have treatments in Erie every other week for the next 6 months. One of the cancer doctors from Shadyside drives to Hamot every day from Pittsburgh…this is why her treatments are up there and not here in Warren. On the day she receives treatment it lasts between 4-6 hours , then she comes home wearing a chemo infusion pump where it continues into her bloodstream for the next 48 hours. After 48 hours is up she has to go back to Erie and have the pump taken off until her next treatment. And in between those treatments she has to go back and forth to Shadyside to have scans done to make sure her treatment is doing what they want it to do. Anyone who knows my sister knows she is an extraordinary human being & unbelievably strong. We have all been praying for her and keeping our faith strong.
Ruth’s journey thru this battle has inspired us to organize this Gofundme for her. Your contributions will help alleviate the financial burden that accompanies a medical diagnosis of this magnitude. Your donations will be used for any unpaid medical bills, medications she needs, transportation to and from Erie twice a week for chemo treatments , trips to Pittsburgh for her scans and testing once every month, her husband being off work to help take care of her and to be with her and to help with any other essential expenses she endures. Times are tough for everyone but I firmly believe that together we can make a difference in her life. Anything you can contribute will be truly appreciated. Ruth also has a Venmo account set up in her name for those who have Venmo. You can access her account at Her family is also having a spaghetti benefit for her on Sunday Nov. 19 at the Sugar Grove Fire Hall from 12:00-5:00.
Thank you with heartfelt gratitude…for taking your time to read this. God Bless you. And please keep Ruth in your prayers.
