Help Support Sam & Xylem the Cat's Dental Surgery

When I think of animal advocacy, I think of Sam. I met Sam while working at Marin Humane nearly ten years ago. Sam rescued my beloved bunny, Poppy, from a grassy field in Vallejo. Sam showed me how beautiful snakes could be when she let me hold a magnificent Boa while teaching the summer camp students about reptiles. Now when I see snakes, I get excited instead of being afraid.

We all likely have favorite animal stories because of Sam. Maybe you remember the story of her pink-toed tarantula being lost in her basement, only to find it months later happily surviving on the buffet of insects a Bay Area basement had to offer. Maybe you caught the viral video of Sam re-introducing a mother to her puppies, instantly bringing insane joy to the reunited dog family.

Through all these animal moments, our friend Sam has selflessly given her time, her energy, and her income to help animals in need.

Today, I am asking YOU to help Sam and her cat, Xylem, who recently underwent emergency dental surgery. You can see on the x-rays that "the line of the bone below the teeth should be above those root arches, but he (Xylem) has so much bone loss the roots are exposed (though hidden by gums so we had no idea). Plus you can see lesions on some of the roots and how they have already detached." (Taken from Sam's original Facebook post)

Let's show Sam the same love that she shares with all of us. Let's help Sam pay for some, if not all, of Xylem's surgery. She deserves all the help she can get, even if she tries her best to refuse it.
