Help Support Sofia’s Journey
Donation protected
Maria and I want to express our heartfelt gratitude to you. Thank you for being here, for your kindness, and for your willingness to support us during the most challenging journey of our lives. We are truly humbled and grateful that our family took the initiative to organise this GoFundMe on our behalf—something we would never have done ourselves, as we never want to burden others. However, knowing how much love surrounds us, we have chosen to embrace it and invite you to be part of Sofia’s journey with us.
Our daughter Sofia is nothing short of a miracle. Born on October 26, 2020, she has faced more challenges in her four years than most of us will ever know. Diagnosed at birth with skeletal dysplasia, she later developed a serious spinal condition that required her to wear a neck brace. At 3 years old, she was diagnosed with autism, making her non-verbal. Despite these challenges, Sofia is the happiest and most resilient child we have ever known.
Music is her world, and clapping is her way of expressing joy and connection. She claps with family, friends, and even strangers, spreading love wherever she goes. She always wants to play, and even though she cannot communicate like other kids her age, Sofia continues to light up every room she enters and shows us what true strength looks like.
In November 2024, our world shifted again when Sofia was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension and lung disease. She now depends on oxygen 24/7, making it difficult for her to participate in the social activities she loves so much.
Recently, we received devastating news—doctors have told us that her condition is worsening and that our time with our little girl may be limited to a few months or, if we’re lucky, a year.
We refuse to give up hope. Sofia has repeatedly proven that she is stronger than any diagnosis, and we believe our little girl will continue defying the odds. We have faith that Jehovah will give us strength, and we’re determined to give her the experiences, joy, and memories she deserves while continuing to seek any possible treatment that could give her more time.
How Your Support Can Help:
• Daily expenses: Frequent trips to the Royal Children’s Hospital, food, travel, and medical costs have been overwhelming.
• Creating memories: We want to give Sofia experiences that bring her joy, like special outings, music sessions, and family adventures she will love.
• Exploring treatments: We are constantly researching potential treatments and therapies. If there’s any chance of improving Sofia’s condition, your support will help us pursue it.
If you are unable to contribute financially, we completely understand. Your love, prayers, and positive energy mean just as much to us. We would also be grateful for your suggestions if you know of any treatments or specialists that could help with pulmonary hypertension or lung disease.
Sofia has taught us that love, joy, and hope can shine through even in the most challenging times. Thank you for supporting our family and helping us give Sofia the life she deserves.
Thank you,
Maria, Michael & Sofia
