Help Support South Asian Community Storytelling
Donation protected
Kahani is an intergenerational community for South Asian girls & women to create stories that represent our experiences, explore our history, and write our future together - all while having fun! We create summer camps and year-round clubs to support South Asian women from girlhood to adulthood in telling their stories and learning about their past. In the coming year, we are planning to:
1. Launch a quarterly digital magazine to share the stories people create in our programs
2. Host our first sleepaway summer camp for girls and nonbinary youth
3. Create a similar space for South Asian men and boys to explore, learn, and imagine
4. Support other communities in using our curriculum to develop community-driven history and storytelling programs
As I arrive at my 30th birthday, I realize that starting Camp Kahani has been the greatest privilege and joy of my 20s. I've gotten to be part of creating the kind of community that I wish I had growing up, where South Asian women from different walks of life come together, learn about our hidden histories, and create media that represents our real experiences in a world that doesn't.
For my 30th birthday, I would love your support in helping us grow our organization so we can continue to provide community history and creative storytelling programs. For me, this is the most meaningful gift I could receive because contributing to this community is what gives me a sense of purpose, especially as I walk into a new decade of life. Thank you so much for donating, celebrating my birthday with me, and being a part of our journey.
