Help support Steve and his family after fire
Donation protected
Hi there, my name is Daniella and I’m the eldest daughter of Steve Ploubidis.
On 4 September 2024, my dad’s small business, Plato’s Greek Chargrill, caught fire and burnt down. When the roof starting to collapse in the back kitchen, Dad was still inside trying to put the fire out to save Plato’s. Sadly, dad has sustained third degree burns affecting 70% of his body. He is expected to remain in hospital for several months.
Steve and his beautiful wife Katya have 3 young kids, who are 2, 6 and 8 years old. Without Plato’s and with dad in the hospital, Katya is unable to afford their mortgage and day-to-day expenses for her and the kids. Dad has a long road to recovery over the next 18 months after having unready suffered from multiple operations and more medical procedures and rehab yet to come. This means he’ll be unable to work for quite a long time, putting a lot of strain and pressure on him, Katya and their young children.
Katya is applying for support where possible, as insurance unfortunately doesn’t cover the loss. Our family are also trying to help out as much as possible.
We would be so incredibly grateful for donations of any amount to help dad, Katya and their kids during this time.
We are so thankful to all our family and friends who have continued to support us. To everyone who helped dad on the day of the fire and pulled him out, and the burns unit at the RAH, we are forever grateful to you for saving his life.
Plato’s meant so much to dad for so many reasons, and he is very thankful for all the messages we’ve read to him from his customers and the community. He hopes to be able to see everyone again as soon as possible (and get back to serving amazing Greek food!!) ❤️
