Help students in Akim Oda Senior High School

I'm organizing this fundraising to improve conditions at the high school my dad (Michael Amoa-Asare) attended when he was younger.

This November he went to Ghana to visit family and was shocked about the conditions of his old school when he went to connect with an old friend.

The quality of the environment has greatly decreased since he last attended with students having to share seats/desks that are meant for one student, not having any fans to deal with the intense heat, the floors being uneven from years of not being resurfaced, the walls needing to be repainted, and most of the window blinds not working well.

This is an important issue to my dad and my family due to how much we value education and the opportunities that can come from doing well in school. My dad grew up in a poverty-stricken neighborhood, but from working hard in school, he excelled academically and is now practicing as a doctor who gives back to his community.

Not only does education come with opportunities, but it also allows students to make an impact through what they are passionate about. Someone sitting in these classes may have the skills and talents to invent something that could positively change the world, create an art piece that could inspire important conversations, build connections that turn into finding a treatment for a disease, or provide perspectives that could lead to better ways of solving certain issues.
