Help Support The Bolin Family Transplant Fund

As many of you know my Brother-in-law Darrell Bolin was first diagnosed with lymphoma cancer in February of 2021. Four different chemotherapy treatments were administered starting in March of 2021 with limited success. In July of 2022 a CAR-NK treatment was administered with complete remission that lasted for 1 year. In August of 2023 while in remission from lymphoma Darrell was diagnosed with Myelodysplasia, a disorder that disrupts the production of blood cells. This syndrome was determined to have been a result from the previous cancer treatments. In September of 2023 Darrell underwent a PET scan, and at this time it was determined that Darrell’s lymphoma was no longer in remission and had further progressed. The only alternative left to possibly cure these diseases is for Darrell to undergo a Bone Marrow Transplant as soon as possible. A very complex procedure with significant risks.
The many months of treatments and driving back and forth to St. Louis has been very challenging physically, mentally, and financially. To make matters worse Darrell started a new teaching job at Versailles school and does not have access to the Family Medical Leave Act due to the short duration of his time there as a new employee. Once Darrell exhausts his 80 hours of leave for 2023-24 school year he will no longer be paid when gone due to sickness or treatments. When the Bone Marrow Transplant takes place he will have no income for at least 9 months until the 2024-25 school year commences. This places yet another struggle and worry for them.
Darrell has been the sole provider for his family while my sister Sheila has the challenge of caring full time for my nephew that has Autism, cerebral Palsy, seizures, along with other health issues.
Darrell has the biggest heart and loves unconditionally. He is kind, empathetic, and understanding. He is brave, strong, and a fighter. He is a selfless person who would give the shirt off his back and his last dollar to help someone in need. He has always given back to his community in so many ways as a teacher, a coach, a bus driver and is always willing to grill and prepare food for social events or help a farmer during busy seasons. Darrell is the rock to our family, the glue that keeps us all together. He is my inspiration… my hero! Anyone that knows Darrell knows what a great man he is. A one of a kind!!
I am asking at this time to please help Darrell and his family in this very emotional and trying time. Darrell has been a fighter and has never complained one time about his disease. Even on the hard days he would smile and say God is good. So I’m asking please share Darrell’s story and help him to keep fighting his battle against cancer. Lift this family’s heart with encouragement, love, and support. The holidays are approaching so please keep my family in your prayers. Thank you, and God bless!
