Help & Support The Brockman Family
Donation protected
On 2/9/2024, Kim Brockman, was taken to the hospital. She was then moved into the ICU and was not doing well. On 2/13/24, her brother, Bob Brockman, was notified that she was not doing well and booked a last minute, one way flight leaving Wisconsin and headed to Tampa on 2/14/24. After getting to Largo Hospital, Bob was able to take action and make sure that necessary care and decisions were made in the best interest of his sister, Kim. Along with the help and support of the Crapple Family. On 2/15/24 a biopsy was taken to give results and diagnosis of what was ultimately effecting Kim. Her brother, Bob Brockman, has been by her side all day and every day since he arrived to Largo Hospital on 2/14/24. On 2/20/24, we finally received results. Unfortunately, Kim had been diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Cholangiocarcinamo (Bile Duct) Cancer. The doctors said it would be about few weeks, but she fought as much as she could for 6 weeks + 1 day. Due to the stage and how aggressive this cancer is, it was best to make sure Kim was getting the most comfort and peace of a good quality end of life. At first, Kim was transferred from Largo Hospital to an In-Care Hospice Facility on 2/24/24, and since she was fighting a good fight, it was thought best to bring her home, with in home care hospice. She was brought home on 3/13/24 and her brother, Bob, took it upon himself to be her full-time caregiver during these final weeks. Bob has been at her side nearly 24/7 since the day he arrive on 2/14/24, and has made sure that she was comfortable and taken care of during this unexpected and difficult time. He is a true angel.
With Kim’s unexpected diagnosis, there are some financial stressors that are already beginning to pile up on the family. It is our intention with this GoFundMe to ensure that The Brockman Family is able to have some relief over the financial burdens (hospital bills, costs from hospice, funeral expenses, etc.) that they are experiencing during this time. And the unexpected and difficult challenges that they are facing during this hard time.
We want to say thank you for any and all donations to help during this unexpected, challenging time. If you are unable to donate, we understand! Please share this far and wide, if you can. And continue to send your positive vibes, prayers, and support for Kim and her family.
Cholangiocarcinamo Cancer (Bile Duct Cancer) - It occurs when a cancerous tumor grows in one of the ducts that transport bile from the liver to the small intestine. It is often diagnosed when it is advanced, making successful treatment difficult to achieve. It is a rare, aggressive form of cancer, which spreads fast. Only about 8,000 people in the United States develop this cancer each year.
Kim Brockman was born on April 20, 1959 and peacefully passed away from Stage 4 Metastatic Cholangiocarcinamo (Bile Duct) Cancer on April 4, 2024. She is the daughter of the late Donald and Sondra (Sue) Brockman of Hinsdale, IL. She is survived by her brother, Robert (Bob) Brockman, her nieces, Alexis Rae Brockman (Kevin Reilly) and Leah Brockman, her great-niece, Kelsea Reilly, and her great-nephew, Maddex Brockman. She is also survived by her dearest friends that are family, The Crapple Family. Her best friend Carol Crapple (they would refer to each other as Lucy & Ethel), long life best friend Charlie Crapple, and their children (her godchildren) Nathan (Jessica) Crapple, and Jordan Crapple. And the amount of love she cherished for Nate and Jess’s son, her great-nephew, Carson Crapple. Kim was a firm supporter of Jordan and Nathan as they were growing up with coaching baseball, at all of their sporting events, school events, and made sure that she did not just take care of them, but their friends, too. Her passion for sports led her to coach girls softball, boys little league, and became the club president for the Tampa Bay Storm Football. She was dedicated into her work as a commercial leasing agent in: Florida, Tennessee, and Illinois. Kim would enjoy visiting the family lake home in Elkhorn, WI for a few weeks during the summers. She cherished and loved her dogs: Sierra, Allie, and Annie - and spoiled them endlessly. Kim will truly be missed deeply by so many.
Services will be held on Sunday April 14th, 2024 from 1:30 - 3:30 PM at Curlew Hills Memory Gardens, 1750 Curlew Road Palm Harbor, FL 34683
