Help Support the Chang Family in Loving Memory of Jayla

Hello, my name is Farida Inthavong, and I am helping my dearest friends, James and Jen, navigate the unimaginable loss of their precious daughter, Jayla Chang.

On April 13, 2025, a tragic hit and run forever changed their lives. At 4:11 pm in Surrey, while on their way to the park, a pickup truck turned a corner and struck the sidewalk where their children were walking. Jayla, just 6 years old, was struck along with her 7 year old sister Jordyn and 16 year old brother Kohen. While Jordyn and Kohen sustained injuries - a broken clavicle and external bruising - Jayla sadly succumbed to her wounds despite every life-saving effort.

Jayla loved to craft and was a creative, feisty, sassy little warrior. Her smile could light up a room and whose giggles brought joy to everyone around her. She loved her family fiercely and found happiness in the little things —like Squishmallows, which we now imagine fill her heavenly home.

We are raising funds to support James and Jen with funeral expenses and to allow them the time and space to grieve without the added burden of financial stress. Any donation, big or small, will make a meaningful difference and will be deeply appreciated by the family.
