UPDATE from Kelsie: Chris’ colorectal cancer is unfortunately back. His blood tests showed his CEA number rising (what they use to monitor reoccurrence) so his oncologist ordered a CT scan. The scan showed a mass in his liver so he had a PET scan to see if there was cancer present anywhere else. Luckily it’s only in his liver. His oncologist also ordered a liquid biopsy (via blood draw) to confirm that the tumor is in fact a reoccurrence of his colorectal cancer and not something new. It was confirmed a reoccurrence.
We have met with a surgeon who would like Chris to have chemo treatments to hopefully shrink the tumor before he performs surgery to remove it. Chris has gotten a new port placed and has had 2 chemo treatments already. He has two more treatments and then he will get a scan to check the progress on the tumor.
Chris has one more week of work (he’s taken one week off for treatment and then worked the following week for the last 2 treatments). He will be starting his leave from work next week. We are very grateful to his employer for having amazing health insurance and a short term disability leave. Short term disability doesn’t cover his full pay and since he is the sole provider for our family it adds a level of stress. Thank you to everyone who has reached out, offered assistance, or kept us in their thoughts and prayers.

Those who know the Clapper family know that the health and happiness of their loved ones is their number one priority. Family is everything.
Recently, Chris, was diagnosed with Colorectal cancer.
As a result, the last month has been a whirlwind of emotions topped off with doctor appointments , tests, scans, and ultimately an upcoming surgery for removal of the cancer. The pathology reports after the surgery will let them know if they need to move forward with chemo. It goes without saying that a cancer diagnosis is never inexpensive.
Together, no matter how big or small, we can make that road a little smoother by easing the financial stress they will be facing. All monies raised will go directly to their family to help cover out of pocket medial expenses, medications, and/or any other unexpected costs that arise while recovering.
