Help Support The Interchange Food Pantry

Tax deductible
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Interchange Food Pantry is in urgent need of financial support to continue providing our guests with a variety of healthy food options.

The Interchange Food Pantry (IFP) is incredibly grateful for the generous support that has allowed us to meet our fundraising goal of $15,000. This will allow us to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables for our guests for the next 3-4 months. Thank you to all for your vital and important help in this time of crisis.

Your donations at work. The fresh produce weekly cost in 2019 was $53.05. Since the at home order went into effect on March 25th, through your generous donations, the IFP has purchased $6,510.25 of fresh fruit and vegetables, a weekly average of $1,085.04. from wholesale companies.

We will leave this page live and continue to raise funds to help with the purchase of healthy food options of protein items of chicken, peanut butter, baked beans, and dairy items of milk, cheese, and yogurt, and grains such as enriched white or brown rice and pasta. These items are usually obtained at Feeding America at 19 cents per pound but since there is a diminished inventory at Feeding America due to the pandemic we are turning to commercial sources to supplement our inventory. We have already purchased 725 pounds of chicken for $500 to provide to our guests and will continue until the items become available again at Feeding America.

Update on the number of guests served during the pandemic. In the first 2 months of 2020, the IFP served 1,332 guests per month. In April, the first full month of the Wisconsin Safer at Home orders went into effect the IFP served 1,772 guests, a 34% increase in the number of guests compared to the beginning of 2020.

Please consider donating to support our continued operation during the pandemic, as our brave volunteers are working to keep Interchange pantry open and continuing to supply much-needed healthy food to Milwaukee County's most vulnerable populations. Thank you for your support!

The need to provide our vulnerable populations with healthy food has never been greater in our lifetime! Stronger immune systems can help people fight the virus, and may help keep some patients out of the hospital, leaving room for those in most dire need.

Mission Statement: Improve the health and well-being of our guests through access to nutritious food.

Our focus: 50% of our food choices for our guests are fresh or frozen vegetables and fruits, and it’s important to keep it that way … especially during the current pandemic.

In 2019, the pantry obtained 135,978 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables and 40,970 pounds of dairy products.

The IFP Reach: In 2019 the IFP served 13,871 guests (monthly average: 1,156) up from 9,169 guests (monthly average: 764) in 2018. In one year, IFP saw a 51% increase of guests served after opening our services to the entire Milwaukee County.

In 2019 the IFP served 428 children per month, 368 elderly, and 360 adults (ages of 18-59).
