Help Angelo Fight His Third Battle of AML!

Today we are reaching out to let you know that Angelo is once again in a colossal battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Angelo and our family were so grateful that he was nearing his second-year anniversary of being cancer free after his second bone marrow transplant. A few weeks ago, Angelo started exhibiting some bruising and though we all tried to find reasons for them since he is such an active young man, our hearts began to whimper as to what they might mean. Soon tests revealed the nightmare had invaded Angelo’s bone marrow for a third time! Within a day of learning the news, Angelo, along with Larry (Dad), Jenalee (Mom), and Domenick (brother) headed to Children’s Hospital Colorado in Aurora to begin the momentous journey of treatment, getting into remission, finding a blood marrow donor, getting the transplant and healing.

When you think of Angelo (“messenger”), picture a kind soul, but yet a warrior, that is determined to make a positive difference in this world, even in the face of pain and suffering he must go through for a third time. His faith never waivers, he does not feel sorry for himself, and somehow comforts those who need to be his comfort. He was able to get through the previous two battles, thanks to his faith in God, his inner warrior strength (unlike any we have every experienced on this earth), the team of medical professionals, and with an outpouring of support via means of prayers, notes, calls, care packages, visits, fund raisers, donations and much more from family, friends and the hearts of individuals near and far.

At this time, Jenalee is unable to keep her job and will remain at the hospital as Angelo’s primary caretaker. Larry, who has very little leave time, will have to work as he can and travel back and forth between Palisade and Aurora. Domenick will finish school in Palisade, staying with family. As one can imagine, the mortgage, other bills, including past medical bills, and basic living needs must be paid. Any support you would like to extend to Angelo and his family is priceless!
