Help Support the Nicola Family

Donation protected
UPDATE: The Nicola Family is so appreciative of all the generosity of their friends, family, community and beyond. Thank you all your for your support during this time.

The family is preparing for Emersyn’s funeral which is scheduled for Saturday March 5, 2022.

So far, Mike had one surgery to repair his femur fracture. His clavicle fracture, rib fractures and back fractures will not require surgical intervention at this time. Michael was transferred to the inpatient rehab unit at Bellin in Green Bay as he continues to recover from his injuries and working to gain back his mobility. Mike has been in talks with the insurance company and it sounds like the cost of the emergent helicopter ride will not be covered by their insurance and is thought to cost around $27,000.

The Ermis Family; including Dana’s parents, siblings and their families have organized this account to support the Nicola family throughout this very difficult time. Any support received will be used to cover medical expenses and the cost related to organizing a funeral for Emersyn.

On Wednesday February 23, 2022 Michael brought his two daughters, Alexa (age 11) and Emersyn (age 8), to the Dua Lipa concert in Milwaukee, WI. This was Emersyn’s first concert and both girls enjoyed this special time spent with their dad. Their mother, Dana made them shirts that said “Daddy Daughter Date” to wear to the concert. Alexa shared a memory from the concert and said at one point Dua Lipa pointed at her and Emersyn and smiled at them both. At the end of the concert, Michael and the girls left and began their commute back home to Suring, WI.

On the way back from the concert there was an accident and Emersyn gained her angel wings that night.

Michael was taken by helicopter to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Green Bay, WI. Michael sustained multiple fractures to his hip, shoulder and back. He will require multiple surgeries throughout his recovery. Michael will also be unable to work for some time due to his injuries. Prior to this, his work provided the family’s main source of income.

Alexa was taken by ambulance and admitted to St. Vincent’s Hospital as well for minor injuries. She was able to discharge on Thursday February 24, 2022.

Dana has always been strong. Anyone who knows her can share numerous stories with examples of her strength and her support for her friends, family and her community. Dana continues to remain strong as she guides herself, Mike, Lincoln and Alexa through their grief.

A Venmo account has been set up to accept electronic monetary donations if preferred. Nicola_Family
