Phoebe was born at St. Vincent's on June 15, 2021. She was unexpectedly born with myelomeningocele spina bifida. Her condition did not show up on any ultrasounds. Phoebe was transported to Randall Children's Hospital that evening of her birth. On Thursday, June 17th she underwent surgery to repair the myelo. Surgery went Great! The doctors were amazed that she had such great movement in her legs. This is not the end for this disease. There is risk that she could develop hydrocephalus, a condition where fluid can build up in the brain. She will be closely monitored by her Neuro Team and if this develops she will undergo another surgery. Phoebe will also have an Occupational Therapy Team that will continue to work with her and her mobility as she hits milestones such as crawling and walking. In the 6 days Phoebe has been alive she has powered through a surgery and MRI along with being in the NICU away from her parents. If you can please help the Pinkstaff's, a little goes a long way on this road to recovery for Phoebe, Jenni and Nathan. Thank you!
