Help Support the Porters

Hi, my name is Ashley, and I'm fundraising for my good friend Kimberly and her husband Anthony. Kimmy & Anthony are a wonderful couple with two beautiful daughters. They are such kind and generous people and would give you the shirt off their backs if needed.

When trying to expand their family and conceive their third and last child, Kimm and Anthony experienced some difficulties. Kimm endured three devastating miscarriages. It was incredibly heartbreaking. But then a miracle happened, and she became pregnant with baby Granger! All of her early pregnancy scans were right on target. At her 20-week anatomy scan, a white spot was found in his stomach and heart. Kimms OB referred her to the Maternal-Fetal Medicine doctor at UVMMC in Burlington.

On Tuesday, March 15th, Kimm and Anthony had their appointment at the hospital. Unfortunately, what they thought was a routine check-in after the anatomy scan turned their worlds upside down. They were met with a high-risk doctor that sadly informed them that their son, Granger has some complications with his heart. They brought in a pediatric cardiologist who confirmed their fears.

They are now faced with some hard life decisions that have to be made within the near future. They will be getting a second opinion in Boston within the next week or two to confirm Granger's diagnosis. At this point, he was given two diagnoses for his heart condition. For now, his diagnosis is Interrupted Aortic Arch. This is a very rare heart defect that occurs when the aorta does not develop normally while the baby is in the mother's womb. It comprises about 1% of all congenital heart defects. It will require she give birth in Boston, and within a few days, their son will need open-heart surgery. If his heart continues to get worse and does not grow, he will most likely be given the new diagnosis of Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. We won't know this for sure until we meet the Boston Children's Hospital team.

Their world has been turned upside down. They completely plan to do everything they can to give their son a fighting chance.

The money donated will go directly to the Porters. This will help as Kimm will need living arrangements in Boston after Granger's surgery. This will cover gas, food, childcare, and help to pay bills as Kimm will be out of work during this time, and the Porters will be surviving on one income. Every penny helps. Thank you so much.
