Hi! I am Amy and Drew’s sister-in-law, Ema. I’ve known Amy and Drew since 2012, and have been so fortunate to have been able to be with them through so many big moments of their lives together, their wedding, celebrating the births of both baby boys, family vacations and so many holidays. Amy and Drew have the biggest hearts, and their love for their family is something that so many people admire.
Drew's cancer journey began just a few months after Brodie’s birth, with a diagnosis of Stage 2 Colon cancer in July 2021 after emergency surgery to repair an obstruction His treatment on this journey involved numerous rounds of chemotherapy and a round of radiation, with hospital stays in both Brantford and Toronto. In September 2023, Drew underwent the first of three
surgeries in Toronto, the first to remove the tumors, followed by another to repair a subsequent bleed, and a third to reverse an ileostomy that had been placed. Despite the ups and downs of the last few years, Drew and Amy have never stopped maintaining their positive outlook for the future or making sure that Spencer and Brodie did not miss out on anything.
2024 started off with the Stevensons celebrating Drew’s health and planning a cruise to make memories with Spencer and Brodie. In April 2024, Drew was informed that his cancer had returned, this time a Stage 4 colon cancer that has metastasized to the liver. He began chemotherapy treatment again but only attended one session before developing a hernia, which led to his chemotherapy being paused. Currently, Drew and Amy are exploring surgical and treatment options that may be available in Toronto, the United States or Mexico to address the fistula that developed as a result of the hernia, so that Drew can resume chemo.
With Amy and Drew’s permission, I have set up this GoFundMe to accept donations. As the Stevensons explore their treatment options that may require Drew to seek care outside of Brantford, the financial strain on their family has intensified, compounded by Amy’s current absence from work to be by Drew’s side.
We understand if you’re not able to donate at this time, and welcome you to reach out to Drew and Amy with your well wishes, positive thoughts and love. I know that Amy and Drew would appreciate reading any of the kind words you have to send their way.
Thank you!
