Help support the tragic loss of Matt Novak

Donation protected
It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our loved one, Matthew Novak, 34 years old.

If you knew Matt personally, you knew a man that was dedicated to his wife Lisa, his 3 year old daughter Mara, his 8 month old daughter Keira, his family and his closest friends. You knew a man that would always pick up the phone if a loved one needed to vent, or just someone to talk to. You knew a man that you could always count on to get a random text with a random joke that he laughed so hard at that he needed to share. You knew a man of faith, who was strongly opinionated and never shied away from a conversation if he felt it was in the best interest of his family and out of love.

Matt grew up in Whitestone, Queens, with his parents, Clare and Jim, and 3 siblings, Jessica, Stefanie, and Christopher. He attended St. Francis Prep in Queens, went on to graduate from SUNY Oswego in 2009, and proud member of Delta Sigma Phi. He received a Masters Degree from Hunter College. He went on to join the NYC Dept. of Corrections and worked his way up to the title of Director of Correctional Standards Review / program manager. He was someone who spoke about the love of his co-workers often, and shared with family the laughs he would have with his work family.

Matt married the love of his life, Lisa, and they were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Mara, 3, and Kiera, 8 months. We know that the road ahead will be one that we have to face as a family. It takes a village, and if anyone can donate any amount, it would be greatly appreciated. They are a dual income family and will need our financial support to help them get by missed days/ weeks off of work, for funeral expenses and to provide for the children's daycare and education.

If it is not in the means to donate monetarily, please send prayers, and well wishes to Lisa, Mara, and Keira, as well as all loved ones of Matt. The family definitely feels the love and support and it is greatly appreciated, and while these are very hard and emotional times, knowing that many loved him as we did helps.

Thank you all for donations, thoughts and prayers. If anyone would like the information for the services, please reach out directly and we will forward to you.

He was always the first person to step up. He put everyone he met or knew first and he deeply cared about family and friends. Now it is our time to show how much he means to us. It will bring Matt great peace knowing that his loved ones are being cared for.

Thank you from the family of Matt Novak.
