Help Support the Whitaker Family!

This beloved Fort Mill/Tega Cay family has had a very trying year full of struggles, and unfortunately the hits just keep coming.

About a year ago Aaron (the dad/husband) started experiencing sudden weakness on one side, which eventually led to the diagnosis of a pontine brain lesion. Essentially, his brain stem/pons/medulla have all been attacked causing a massive deterioration of his myelin sheath. Over the past year, the impact it has had on Aaron's health and physical ability has been extremely severe. Aaron is no longer able to walk, speak, feed himself, etc. and now requires full-time care.

Jessica (mother/wife) is a well-loved therapist in the Fort Mill school system, and is working to raise their 2 young boys (ages 7 and 9) as well as provide Aaron's care. In order for Jessica to continue working to support the family, they recently had to hire a caregiver to help take care of Aaron during the workday. Between the massive amount of medical bills, the ongoing cost of Aaron's care, and all the additional expenses to make their home a place that's accessible and safe to Aaron the family is experiencing significant financial strain.

In addition, Jessica's #1 support system (her mother) was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Leukemia less than 2 weeks ago and unfortunately passed away yesterday as a result of her very quick and aggressive battle with Leukemia. For Jessica and the boys to get to Kansas City, to see their mom/grandma before her passing, and to attend her funeral, additional expenses for airfare as well as additional hours of care for Aaron in their absence, have continued to pile up.
