Help support the Year of the Mustang

My name is Jake Harvath and I'm about to embark on the longest horse trek to be completed in the United States in a year. The Year of the Mustang is a continuous solo horseback journey I'm doing with my two mustangs, Eddy and Denver.
Starting in Utah I will cross through 25 states in the continental U.S. and cover about 6,000 miles entirely on horseback. Living with only what little I can pack on two mustangs, I will head east from Utah to the Atlantic Ocean in New Jersey, then turn west and head back to Utah where I started. My goal is to bring awareness to the plight of the American mustang, wild horses that were once a symbol of an untamed country but now struggle to keep their place in it.
I have loved animals my entire life but for the past 10 years have focused all my time and attention on horses. I started my education in horsemanship in 2014 and in 2017 I started training horses and coaching professionally. Along with training I did an apprenticeship in horseshoeing and then in 2021 I went to horseshoeing school. Since then I have worked full time as a colt trainer and farrier.
Growing up in the mountains of Utah I became an avid outdoorsman. I've spent years honing my skills in hunting, fishing, canyoneering, wilderness survival and many other activities that give me an edge in the backcountry. I've let all of these things prepare me for my biggest adventure yet. I'll be crossing this country's diverse terrain and unpredictable climates, relying on those skills and the natural hardiness of the mustang to succeed in my goal. I know my mustangs will be great ambassadors, helping me spread awareness of the BLM's wild horse adoption program.
Starting in September of 2023, I will be dedicating my life to seeing and documenting this great country from the back of a horse. I hope to inspire people to pursue their dreams and discover their purpose through courage, hard work and perseverance.
It has taken me years of preparation and planning to make this trip happen and it will require lots of resources to support my horses and myself along the way. Due to numerous ongoing expenses such as food, hay, horseshoes, gear and occasional board for the horses I am seeking your support to help make this possible.
Through your donation, you can help feed and support two horses and one rider as we make history. You can also follow the inspiring journey as it happens through videos on our YouTube channel (Jake Harvath) and other social media platforms under "Year of the Mustang". Whether through your donation, or just by watching, subscribing and cheering me on, I hope you'll all become a small part of this monumental adventure.
Thank you!
