Help Support Tracy Grant During Her Battle with Cancer
Donation protected
Dear friends and family,
I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your support for my incredible mother, Tracy Grant. At 55 years old, she has been the heartbeat of our family—a devoted mother of four, grandmother, friend, and a person who has spent her entire life caring for others. As a professional, she dedicated her career to helping people, and she’s always put others before herself. Now, after so many years of selflessness, it's our turn to care for her.
For the past year, my mom has faced a series of unexplainable health struggles—blood in her urine, skin issues, and severe abdominal pain. Doctors initially thought it was kidney stones, but just before Christmas, things took a devastating turn. After a trip to the ER at Mayo Clinic, we learned that she wasn’t just battling diverticulitis as we had thought, but also had kidney cancer. Shockingly, she kept this news to herself, not wanting to burden us during the holidays, even though she had already endured so much.
After a difficult emergency surgery in Eau Claire, where she had to undergo repairs for multiple tears in her intestines, my mom was left with a medical journey that would include a lengthy reovery—a physical and emotional challenge she never anticipated. But despite everything, she managed to stay strong and was eventually able to come home. Then came the news that the cancer, initially thought to be non-aggressive, had become much more aggressive.
Starting February 10th, my mom will begin a brutal course of chemotherapy that will last for 12 weeks—four rounds of treatment, each lasting three weeks. Each session will be a grueling five-hour ordeal, followed by shorter treatments and a week of rest. The toll on her body will be immense—weight loss, hair loss, and the overwhelming fatigue that comes with chemotherapy. She’s had a port placed in her chest to help with the treatment, but the recovery from that has been tough and painful.
After chemo, they will remove her entire left kidney and ureter, then if all goes well, surgery to reverse her diverticulitis surgery. This will be a long process and recovery.
What makes this even harder is that my mom has recently been dealing with the loss of family members, all while grieving. She had just welcomed the joy of becoming a grandmother for the first time, but now, due to her health, she can’t even lift her granddaughter—something no grandmother should have to endure.
The financial strain of this journey is enormous. Over the years, our family has already been dealing with significant medical expenses: fertility treatments for me, my brother's ongoing struggles, and other ongoing needs. In addition, my father needs surgery and other care that has had to be postponed because of everything going on with my mom.
My mom has been fighting to stay strong for the rest of us. With the mounting medical bills, the other financial obligations, the emotions and physical traumas, she is feeling the weight of it all.
We are asking for your help to alleviate some of the financial burden, so that my mom can focus on her recovery rather than worrying about how to pay for her medical expenses. Your support—whether through a donation or simply sharing her story—will mean the world to us.
Every little bit helps, and we are deeply grateful for any contribution you can offer. We are blessed to have such a wonderful community of friends and family, and we are holding onto hope that with your love and support, my mom can fight this battle and come out stronger on the other side.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for being part of our journey. Your love, prayers, and support mean more to us than words can express.
With all our love and gratitude,
The Grants
