Help Support Trans Healthcare

Trans support and understanding has thankfully come a long way in recent years. But there is still no trans affirming health provider specifically for trans people by trans people in Narrm (Melbourne). There are also long wait lists where trans people wait and suffer without any support. We hear that the wait lists for trans healthcare are commonly between one to three years where health continues to decline.

This is why we need Trans Space! But, we need your help to maintain no wait lists and to grow and more open more sites to increase timely access to trans affirming healthcare.

A donation of $295 can cover a trans person’s WPATH assessment to get trans affirming surgery. A donation of $2,600 can cover 10 counselling sessions for a person who otherwise would have gone without any support on long waitlists. Donations of $3,000 or more can go towards opening a second site so that we can help trans people with face to face services beyond metropolitan Victoria. 

Trans Space was created by Lee (they/them). Lee is a trans person and they are motivated to create an initiative that supports and connects Trans and Gender Diverse (TGD) people with experienced mental health practitioners. Trans Space is important because TGD people tend to have poorer mental health outcomes than cisgender people, including higher attempted and completed suicide rates. TGD people also commonly experience barriers in finding experienced and inclusive practitioners that have availability. Trans Space will also be the space from which Lee will advocate for social justice and empower young TGD people.

Trans Space is a multidisciplinary Trans affirming health provider in Merri-Bek, right here in Narrm (Melbourne). Trans Space plan to expand across all Australian states, including rural and regional areas. 

You could be the difference in allowing this one of a kind gender affirming space to operate and provide trans affirmative healthcare to TGD people, using the informed consent model. The team consist of practitioners experienced in working with TGD people and TGD practitioners with lived-experience.
