Hello friends and family, I am in the unfortunate position of needing for your support and prayers! I am currently in such so much pain and financial stress that my family and I can do nothing but ask for your help. Please read the following with an open heart and I will explain our situation fully.

As many of you know, I have been struggling with skin issues for the past 5 years. After all these years we finally know what has been the cause of my skin issues. It started as a small rash on my neck which I was then prescribed a steroid cream to put on it. After that the rash started spreading on other parts of my body. Every time I went to the dr I was told it was eczema and received a steroid shot and was told to continue to use steroid cream when I would flare up. Well I have been on this same cycle for years. Desperate to try everything my family and I decided to up and move from Atlanta, GA, a place we love and miss greatly, back to my hometown of Las Cruces, NM because we believed these skin flares could be due to environmental changes. Well my skin was fine until I had another small flare on some parts of my body. So I decided to apply some of the steroid cream to calm the flare. Well within that week my skin flared up even MORE!! This got me thinking it may have something to do with the steroid cream. After doing some research I discovered there are many people who have used steroid cream going through what is called “Topical steroid withdraw”. This can happen after long use of steroid shots, oral steroids and steroid creams. Once you stop your skin begins to flare and appear as eczema. In bad cases this can spread throughout your entire body.

This is where I am at now. I decided to cut off all steroids for my so called “eczema” to see if In fact the steroids have been the cause of all this. In this process your body begins to go through “withdrawals” to heal. I am currently 6 months in and there are many Debilitating symptoms so severe that I am unable to work. This is where we need as much help as possible. As the main provider financially in my household this is not easy for me to be put in this position to be so vulnerable and ask for help financially( and in general), but these past 6 months have been the most emotionally, mentally and physically painful thing my family and I have ever gone through. My skin has this deep bone itch that feels I need to scratch my skin off to get to the itch, my skin feels so irritated, it sheds and flakes dry skin everywhere, I have severe body aches, severe pain, severe body chills, it stings, burns and does not feel like skin. I can barely move and sometimes all I can do is sit on the couch to not feel any pain. I can’t sleep and the worst part is this is 24/7 all day all night no relief and no breaks. It has caused so much mental torment that my family has had to witness me break down in tears and weap in so much emotional and physical pain and they have to just sit there and helplessly watch. I sometimes feel so distant from my family because I have to go lock myself in the bathroom to gather myself and try to get over the pain to go back and sit on the couch so I can be as present as I can. I can’t be there to help around the house and breaks my heart that I can’t be there for my wife and kids. My 2 year old son comes up to me and wants me to play and I have to say I can’t right now(because I’m in so much pain) and he walks away crying. That is one of the hardest things to go through in this whole process. It has come down to me losing my job which is currently our only source of income. Alisha(my wife) can not work because she takes care of the kids. If I was able to take care of our kids I would do so and she would step in and work temporarily but this is not possible currently in my condition. I know this is really long so I appreciate if you have taken the time and made it this far to hear our story. To help with bills and any medical expenses we have made a go fund me to help relieve any financial stress do to my job loss until we can figure out how to get a stable income during This healing process that can take months to years. If you feel led in any way to give and share this post it would help out so much to take away some of the burden. No amount is too big or too small and we would really appreciate any help we can get. Thank you all so much!
