Hello to those who love Vic,

On December 23, Vic was finishing some Christmas shopping and was sitting in their car when two young men approached and held them at gunpoint. Vic attempted to flee and was shot while driving away.

Vic has had major surgeries, is healing from organ, nerve, and bone damage, and is experiencing partial paralysis. They were discharged on New Year's Eve, but their recovery will continue at home.

This fundraiser is to

help offset their ongoing and increasing medical costs,
to purchase accessibility devices to help them move independently and to aid in their recovery,
and to ease the transition back to everyday life.

The total amount needed is unknown (especially since the hospital bills haven't been processed yet), but miscellaneous costs have started to build up. This amount is our best estimate of costs and lost income for the next two months. Any funds raised in excess of Vic's recovery-related needs will be donated to a Lansing-based organization dedicated to supporting at-risk youth in mid-Michigan.

Vic and their family are very grateful for the outflow of love and support they have already received, and any and all additional support will be deeply appreciated.
