Help Support Warda in Her Battle with Terminal Brain Cancer

Hi, my name is Aisha Khan and I am fundraising for my aunt Warda Hussain who was diagnosed with a terminal form of brain cancer in June of 2022.

For those who know Warda personally, know how kind, strong, and selfless she has always been.

My aunt Warda Hussain is courageously battling terminal brain cancer (glioblastoma) and despite surpassing the original prognosis of 6 to 18 months, her condition is rapidly deteriorating. My uncle Nasir, the sole income earner, and their three children (Alvina, Isaaq & Raafay) are facing overwhelming challenges, especially as the two youngest are autistic—one is nonverbal, and the other requires constant behavioural care. The family is mentally, physically, and financially exhausted.

Please help us support them during this incredibly difficult time.

In June 2022, Warda’s world came to a screeching halt as she was devastatingly diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme type 4, (a very aggressive form of brain cancer) and was given only 6 to 18 months to live. By the grace of God, she has surpassed that prognosis, however in recent weeks the disease has rapidly progressed and truthfully, we are unsure how much more time she has left.

My uncle, Nasir Hussain, is the sole provider. They have three children (Alvina, Isaaq & Raafay), and their eldest (Alvina) has taken on the responsibility of caring for her two autistic brothers. The youngest, Raafay, is nonverbal and requires constant supervision, while Isaaq requires behavioural supervision due to frequent outbursts.

The emotional, physical, and financial burdens on this family are unimaginable and the financial strain is becoming overwhelming. Bills and expenses are piling up, and my uncle’s ability to keep up with the expenses—while taking unpaid time off work to bring Warda to her appointments—is increasingly difficult. They are doing everything they can, but they are at their breaking point, and that’s why I am asking for your help.

We are raising funds to support Warda and her family during this incredibly difficult time.

Your contributions will go toward:

• Medical bills and treatments not covered by insurance, including palliative care to ease Warda’s pain and keep her comfortable.

• Additional caregiving support for their autistic children, so that the family can focus on spending precious time together without being overwhelmed by day-to-day responsibilities.

• Household expenses, including mortgage, utilities, groceries, and other essential costs, as my uncle continues to balance work and caring for his family.

• Future support for the children, who will need counseling, therapy, and ongoing care in the wake of this traumatic experience.
