Help support Wil through a challenging diagnosis

Donation protected
Wil, a 17-year-old apprentice, has lived with McCune-Albright Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder affecting bones, skin, and hormones. Since birth, he has endured multiple surgeries for broken bones and thyroid conditions. Despite these challenges, Wil remains resilient and dedicated to his future.

On October 24th, Wil noticed a sore spot on his skull. Scans revealed a bone cyst, and subsequent scans showed three more growing rapidly. The largest cyst broke through his skull, creating a hole and a blood-filled lump. Thankfully, the cysts are not malignant. After consulting craniofacial and neurological specialists at WCH, it was decided to avoid radiation therapy or skull surgery. Instead, Wil began a series of injections aimed at "switching off" the osteoclasts in his bones to allow bone rebuilding. After 4 injections in December, Wil will need monthly injections for six months. The initial treatment is showing promise, but the journey is far from easy.

Wil’s treatment has been promising, but the uncertainty of rare conditions like his means we must plan for all outcomes. The possibility of further treatments or procedures looms. We also want to ensure Wil can create special memories, enjoying moments of joy during his challenging journey. Whether it's a dream trip or simply a fun experience, these memories will help him stay positive.
Additionally, McCune-Albright Syndrome is so rare that it’s hard to find specialists with enough experience. Wil’s family is seeking private consultations both interstate and overseas for expert opinions. These additional consultations and travel expenses are substantial, but they are crucial to ensuring Wil receives the best care possible.

Your donations will support Wil’s medical costs, including ongoing treatments and consultations with doctors within SA, interstate and overseas due to the rarity of his conditions. Your generosity will also help fund fun experiences for Wil, allowing him to embrace life despite the challenges ahead. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a significant difference in Wil’s journey to recovery.
Thank you for supporting Wil and helping him create a brighter future.
